TEGG SERVICES
Mike Saitone - Providing Trust & Accountability

Mike Saitone has been the senior Sales Representative for Knights’ Electric, Inc.’s TEGG Services since 2004.  Saitone has seen many of his early clients bloom into renewal clients over his time with the company.  He attributes the success of the TEGG Service process to two things above all, trust and accountability.

“We have been able to show our accountability to clients with our performance and follow up”, says Saitone.  With experienced TEGG technicians, Ben English and Frank Teuschler, and the cutting edge technology used in analyzing electrical systems including infrared and ultrasound testing, TEGG has performed at a high level of efficiency for their clients.

The TEGG process also includes a systematic follow up procedure with “care calls” from Sara Allan, Knights’ Electric’s TEGG Administrative Assistant, who checks in with clients after the TEGG field work has been completed to see if they have any questions or concerns

Also, for clients who are committed to long term TEGG contracts, Luka Dexter, Knights’ Electric’s TEGG Project Manager, contacts TEGG clients a few months after the “care call” to see if the client has any needs or questions.  Clients are familiar with Dexter because he presents the job quotes before the work begins and he supervises the work performed as project manager

Because of the collective TEGG process Mike Saitone has renewed long term contracts with Rodney Strong Vineyards, Sleepy Hollow Management, Van Bebber Brothers and Lace House Linen and other commercial clients.

Fluorescent Lighting Retrofits for
Offices, Showrooms & Warehouses

Fluorescent lighting retrofits are a great way for businesses to save money on energy costs and reduce power usage at the same time.  PG&E has made it even more attractive with rebate incentives that help pay for the fluorescent lighting retrofit installations.

Businesses are now replacing metal halide lighting fixtures and old fluorescent fixtures with new energy efficient fluorescent fixtures that actually produce better lighting at a lower cost.  Metal halide lighting fixtures can lose up to half of their lighting output over the life of the fixture while still using twice as much power as the new fluorescent fixtures.

Knights’ Electric, Inc. recently replaced 55 high bay, metal halide fixtures with new T8 fluorescent fixtures in the showroom and warehouse at ProSource of Santa Rosa, a wholesale flooring and window fashions company on Piner Road.  With PG&E rebates of up to $100 for each replacement fixture and the power savings that cuts lighting bills in half, the savings are substantial for any business using office, showroom or warehouse lighting.

At JMA Architects, on Cleveland Ave. in Santa Rosa, the office area was retrofitted with 4-lamp, T8 fluorescent lighting fixtures replacing old T12 fluorescent fixtures.  The new T8 fixtures provide direct and indirect lighting from an 8-foot ceiling with perforated metal tray light coverings producing a soft, yet brightly lit environment.  Again, the energy savings cuts the lighting bill in half and JMA also received the PG&E rebate.

Richard Freitas, Project Manager for Knights’ Electric’s Commercial Department, says the payback period for investing in energy saving fluorescent lighting is typically two years or less depending on the size of the project.  Fluorescent lighting retrofits can save energy resources and provide big savings on energy bills.

Richard Freitas - Understanding the Process of Municipal Work

Richard Freitas

Some construction companies specialize in municipal work, some companies won’t touch it.  “A lot of construction companies just don’t want to do the paperwork or go through the submittal and approval process involved in municipal work”, says Richard Freitas, Knights’ Electric, Inc.’s Commercial Project Manager.

Freitas could be considered the designated municipal project manager at Knights’ Electric because he has been able to adapt to the rigid structure that municipal work presents.  “It’s not uncommon to have a spec book that’s one or two inches thick on a municipal project”, says Freitas.

The paperwork involved in municipal work is bureaucracy at its best or worst, depending on who you ask.  “Every piece of hardware and software used in municipal work is documented for submittal and then approved for use”, says Freitas.  “Instead of using a designated #12 AWG wire THHN, as you would for a general contractor, you submit a full cutsheet on #12 AWG Cerrowire, part number 122-16-01 THHN for municipal projects.  It’s a very formal process.”

Removing Light Pole From Rohnert Park Stadium   In recent years Knights’ Electric has completed municipal projects for Sonoma County, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park.   Freitas has been the project manager for all of the municipal projects Knights’ Electric has taken on since Freitas joined the company in 2004.  Freitas is also an estimator and project manager for general contractors who build in the commercial sector.   His work includes design/build projects, such as wineries, and installation of solar power systems for commercial facilities.
