For generations Lace House Linen has been a landmark in Petaluma. Located in the cramped downtown core section
on Liberty Street, Lace House Linen President Dan Libarle felt it was time for a change in scenery. "We needed room to expand," says Libarle, referring to their move to Lindberg Lane
off Payran Avenue in Petaluma over a year ago. |
|
New and larger equipment was a good reason to move to the larger facility, "We purchased a state-of-the-art
tunnel washer that takes up a lot of space," says Libarle, "it's only been on the market four years, it's a high production, high efficiency washing system with low water usage."

With the tunnel washer and a number of other machines in the plant, energy efficiency is a critical factor. "We
had TEGG
come in and test our electrical system to see if we were running at peak efficiency," says Libarle, "They have to test the equipment while it's running so we didn't have any down time during the testing. TEGG came in with all their special testing equipment and protective suits and got it done."
|
|
TEGG did that testing about eight months ago, "We're on a contract where TEGG comes in and does the testing once
a year and then they make recommendations if we need repairs or changes," says Libarle, "How else would we really know if we were running efficiently without the testing? Especially
since we're in a new facility where we've made a lot of changes and added new equipment to increase our production." |

WINERIES Moshin Vineyard's Gravitational Force Is With Them

|
As Moshin Vineyards
begins its first crush at their new winery they have a natural force that could payoff big over time – they have gravity on their side. With a 4-tier facility situated on a hillside creating a natural gravity feed from the top tier, the crush area, to the lower tiers where the wine is processed, the gravitational force is with them.
|
|
The wine will not have to be pumped to the tanks, which is a much gentler process for winemaking and as many
winemakers believe, including Rick Moshin
, winemaker at Moshin Vineyards, better for the wine. Moshin Vineyards will also benefit with a power savings using
the gravity force to move the wine instead of electric pumping units. Even with the power savings gained with gravity it takes a lot of electricity to run a winery and that's where
Knights' Electric comes in. |

Knights' Electric installed a 800-amp service panel and sub panels through the winery to power everything from
the bay lighting they installed to the fire pump the winery is required to have for fire protection. Knights' Electric also wired the power to the refrigeration system, the mechanical
area, and the bottling line.

Like many of the smaller wineries being built these days, Moshin Vineyards will be using portable crush
equipment. Knights' Electric manufactured and installed 7
pump or power stanchions
throughout the winery including a floor mount unit with four 480-volt outlets in the crush pad area to power the portable crush equipment.
