Mark West Quarry is turning a waste product into a viable, usable product with a new wash plant process and Knights’ Electric, Inc. is working on the project, which should be in production within a few weeks.

 

“This is cutting edge technology for the U.S. aggregate industry”, says Charlie Young, Project Manager for the new wash plant at Mark West Quarry.  The process will turn suspended solids, which are smaller than sand into material that could be used for a number of construction applications.  The water suspended particles were previously regarded as a waste product.

The pressed cake product of fine material that will be produced can be used as reclamation material at the quarry to replace areas of land after they have been mined.  In the future it could possibly be used to produce roof tile, bricks or pad fill material.  The pressed cakes are loadable, scoopable and conveyable.

Knights’ Electric is powering the wash plant that includes a clear water tank, clarifying tank, mud holding cell and filter press.  Knights’ is installing motor controls and the electrical layout for the wash plant.  The filter press is the first of its kind to be used in the U.S. for an aggregate application.

 

Knights’ Electric’s TEGG Services has also performed work for BoDean Company, Inc. which owns an asphalt plant in Santa Rosa, Blue Rock Quarry in Forestville and Mark West Quarry.  “We have a contract with TEGG and we call Knights’ for all of our work now”, says Young.

When it is completed the winery known as Vineyard 7 & 8 will be a showplace that will equal many of the finest Napa Valley wineries in appearance.  “Their plans are to build a world class winery”, says Richard Freitas, Knights’ Electric, Inc.’s Commercial Project Manager, who is overseeing the project.

Located on Spring Mountain Road off St. Helena Road at the Sonoma/Napa County line, Vineyard 7 & 8 sits on a hilltop overlooking the Napa Valley.  Vineyard 7 & 8 refer to the Estate Cabernet vineyard, Vineyard 7, and the Reserve Chardonnay vineyard, Vineyard 8. The winery, established in 1999, has produced a number of award winning Cabernets and Chardonnays from the Spring Mountain region.  The vineyards are located below the winery.

Knights’ Electric installed a 355 KW, 277/480 volt, 3-phase backup generator that will easily power the entire winery in case the grid power is lost in the somewhat remote location.  Knights’ Electric also manufactured and installed a number of pump stanchions to power the wine pumps and other portable crush equipment that was used for the initial harvest last fall on the outdoor crush pad.

Knights’ Electric installed high bay lighting in the tank room, recessed lighting in the lab, offices and commercial kitchen and eventually they will install cove lighting in the upper level tasting room around the curved circular ceiling.  “The tasting room lighting will provide a wow factor that people won’t easily forget”, says Freitas.

In Knights’ Electric, Inc.’s exclusive custom home construction market the audio video hometheater has become the norm not the exception for upscale home entertainment.  The home theater concept is an amenity that takes form with the homeowner’s imagination it’s only limitation.

 

“Home theaters and the audio visual equipment for them range from the budget conscience level to the highest level of technology and cost”, says Scott Cameron, Knights’ Electric’s Project Manager.  In the one-of-a-kind custom home market that Knights’ Electric works in the level of home theater technology and equipment tends to be high and includes some of the best components available. 

 

Knights’ Electric has installed the Russound audio visual system for a recent custom home client with the RNET communication system that offers up to six zones or rooms of audio visual access.  Russound’s A-BUS, four zone audio distribution system, which uses CAT5 wiring to the keypads, makes this system is ideal for retrofit projects as well as new construction because the speaker wire only needs to be connected to the volume control for each zone making behind wall wiring unnecessary.

With an AV system like Russound the elements of the home theater can be integrated with a lighting system like Lutron HomeWorks to produce one seamless automated system.  “You can lower the automated window shades and dim the lights with one touch of a button when you turn on your home theater”, say Cameron.
