In the Knights’ Electric’s TEGG Services process Luka is responsible for repair estimates after the Knights’ Electric TEGG technicians have tested and evaluated the commercial customer’s electrical system.  The repairs are made by the Knights’ Electric TEGG technicians.

Luka is also responsible for overseeing the work the technicians do onsite.  He monitors projects to insure that the proper safety equipment is used by the technicians and he also monitors technical aspects to make sure repairs are up to code with the proper breakers, wire and other electrical components used for repairs.

Luka works with repeat clients to insure continuity for testing and repairs.  He works with clients that have additional electrical needs such as retrofitting, expansions or solar projects by coordinating with Knights’ Electric’s commercial department, who take on these varied construction projects by working directly with the clients.

Luka also supports Knights’ Electric's TEGG sales representative Michael Saitone if he needs assistance when interacting with clients in regards to technical aspects of their facility’s electrical systems

Cedric, who has been with Knights’ Electric since March 2007, has impressed Art Knight.  “Cedric is very knowledgeable.  His early experience was as an electrician in the field and he’s able to go on site and basically bid a job without plans.  He’s been very productive.  He’s a real asset to our company”, says Knight.

Starting in 1986, Cedric worked for Wiggins Electric for 15 years.  He was a purchasing agent for the better part of 10 years and then moved into the position of estimator and project manager in the residential and commercial sectors.  In 2001 Cedric went to work for Summit Electric, Inc. as a project manager, was promoted to senior project manager and eventually promoted to operations manager for the company.

“I have accumulated a lot of experience over the years”, says Cedric, “I have been involved in many and different types of projects, having experience in construction, purchasing, project and office administration, customer service, supervisory, daily dispatching, employee hiring and separation as well as employee review experience.  As a project manager and estimator I am detail oriented, but patient and very methodical.  I also like to take the time to make sure people understand everything we’re doing to insure we are all on the same page.”

With all of his experience Cedric still likes learning new things and taking on challenges.  He has taken a liking to one of Knights’ Electric’s commercial specialties, wineries.  “The biggest difference between other commercial projects and wineries are the motor controls involved in wineries”, says Cedric, “it’s something that I’m enjoying learning more about, Art (Knight) has been a great teacher."

RESIDENTIAL
Some Things You Need To Know About Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting used in this entryway creates a sophisticated
accent with the baby grand piano and other design elements

Recessed lighting has become a staple of interior lighting design.  It’s used to accent living space, illuminate wall hangings, and artwork.  Recessed lights can be used with other light sources such as wall sconces, pendants and chandeliers to create the perfect lighting scene.  Knights’ Electric, Inc.’s residential department, which works exclusively in the custom home market, installs recessed lighting on virtually every project they take on.

Interestingly enough, the larger recessed lighting fixtures, such as a 6” fixture, are less expensive than a 4” fixture, which is generally preferred in lighting designs due to it’s smaller footprint.  Fixtures for smaller areas, such as half-bathrooms, can be lit with 3” recessed lighting fixtures, and nook lighting can be accomplished with 2” fixtures.  “It’s all about aesthetics”, says Scott Cameron, Knights’ Electric’s residential project manager.

Juno is a reliable and functional recessed lighting fixture that is moderately priced and widely used in Knights’ Electric’s large custom homes projects, which often have over one hundred recessed lights.  Aculux is a high-end precision recessed fixture from the Juno Lighting Group, which can be adjusted to hide the lamp from direct view, making the light less harsh and more appealing.

Iris fixtures from Cooper Lighting have a modular system that can accommodate line, low voltage, or fluorescent applications.  “With a conventional incandescent light source Iris fixtures can create a warmer lighting effect for task or accent lighting, such as a ‘scallop effect’ for walls”, says Cameron.  “Iris’ MR-16, 4” low voltage fixtures is one of the most popular recessed lights because it gives off good color rendering, mimicking sunlight, which makes it ideal for art lighting.”

For sloped ceilings an adjustable slot housing and fixture can used to cast the light straight downward even though the ceiling surface is angled.

There are no hard and fast rules in using recessed lighting. There are numerous elements of design and space that can influence design decisions.  These are just a few hints and guidelines to use when exploring the luminous world of recessed lighting.
