Energy Savings for the
Environment & Your Pocketbook

Saving energy helps to reduce our carbon footprint and helps to reduce air pollution.  That’s a good thing for us and our offspring.  When you can also reduce your financial overhead for energy costs it becomes a great thing.

PG&E is now offering rebates and tax credits for residential and commercial customers who install solar panels .  Commercial customers who install fluorescent lighting fixtures and variable frequency drives for motors can also receive impressive rebates and tax credits from PG&E.

commercial and residential applications

Luka Dexter, Knights’ Electric’s TEGG DES Project Manager, can help customers interested in these energy savings programs right over the phone without doing a walk through of a home or facility.

lights in this Santa Rosa showroom

“If a customer gives me the last six months of PG&E bills I can estimate the rebates and tax credits they would receive by installing solar panels and/or fluorescent lighting”, says Dexter.

Energy savings for a commercial warehouse that replaces existing metal halide or high pressure sodium lighting with fluorescent high bay lighting would be a tax credit of sixty cents per square foot of the facility if the energy cost is reduced by 50%.  Knights’ Electric has helped save energy costs for commercial clients with fluorescent lighting change outs.

ABB Variable Frequency Drives

For commercial facilities, which have motors to power production, Knights’ Electric looks at the efficiency of the motors first.  If motors can be replaced with a NEMA Spec motor PG&E will award a rebate for the installation.  Knights’ Electric can also install variable frequency drives to save energy costs for existing motors.
Knights' Electric can size VFD's to fit the needs
of various sized motors and applications

Knights’ Electric can even calculate your carbon credits when you install energy saving products.  A 12KW solar panel system saves 27,900 pounds of carbon per year, which is equivalent to driving 30,917 miles in a midsize automobile.  70 trees would have to be planted to erase this carbon footprint.

COMMERCIAL
Traverso's will Open Soon at New Home

Traverso’s, a Santa Rosa landmark for over 75 years, will relocate to Fountaingrove Village in late May or early June of 2009.  The move from downtown to a location with ample parking and a variety of retail stores and professional services should increase business for Traverso’s, a specialty food and spirits market and the anchor store for Fountaingrove Village.

Traverso's is moving to Fountaingrove Village at Fountaingrove Parkway and Stagecoach Road
in Santa Rosa and they plan to open their food and spirits specialty market at the end of May

Fountaingrove Village, which was built in 2006 by Carco Investments, consists of about ten businesses and 21 single family homes, which are located on a connected street behind the business buildings.  Knights’ Electric has been involved in the project in a design/build role from the onset.  Now they are involved in completing tenant improvements for Traverso’s, as they have for the other businesses.

Knights’ Electric is completing the installation of receptacles, switches, cover plates and light fixtures for Traverso’s.  They have run wire and set the sub panel boxes, which are fed from a distribution panel located in the adjacent tenant space.

Knights’ Electric has installed nine recessed compact fluorescent fixtures over the deli case and 46 recessed fluorescent lighting troffers for the deli and food prep area, the receiving area, offices and break room.  Knights’ Electric is also installing 15 pendant mounted, high bay fluorescent lighting fixtures in the vaulted ceiling area.
