Knights' Electric, Inc. is engaged with Geary F. Rea & Associates, the general contractor, to complete tenant improvements at the Fountaingrove Dental Building in Santa Rosa. Knights' Electric is now working on completion of the tenant improvements for the first floor dental office and two upstairs offices, one for a dentist and the other for an oral surgeon. This job is a design/build project, one of many that Knights' Electric has done with Geary F. Rea & Associates.

Knights' Electric has previously worked with Geary F. Rea & Associates on the remodeling and retrofitting of Royal Petroleum headquarters on Todd Road in Santa Rosa and the Serifem Building on the square in downtown Healdsburg.

Jerry Deakins was the superintendent at the Serifem Building for Geary F. Rea & Associates and Knights' Electric is working with him again at the Fountaingrove Dental Building. "Jerry is very knowledgeable and experienced," says Art Knight, Commercial Manager for Knights' Electric, "He makes the job easier because he sees things coming ahead of time - he's got the insight and he gives you the heads up - that really helps us do our job."

Knights' Electric's residential department is working on the completion of an exclusive luxury home in Belvedere. Hadley Construction, Inc. is the general contractor. The four-level home features a fully automated Lutron HomeWorks system.

Matt Sweeney, Residential Project Manager, of Knights' Electric has overseen the project and worked closely with Robert Mapes of Craig Roberts Associates, the world-renowned lighting designer of national and international fame.

"This home is full of specialty lighting and recessed lighting that has single fixtures in the $400 to $500 range," says Sweeney, who has worked on numerous luxury homes, "Some of the recessed lighting is flangeless and flush to ceiling, which gives it a totally unique effect."

Another unique effect is the adjustable shelf lighting in the kitchen. The lighting is attached to each shelf along with brass rails on the cabinet sides, which conduct electricity through spring load contacts for each lit shelf. "With this system the cabinet shelves can be moved around freely and wherever you set them they touch the brass contact to light the shelf," explains Sweeney.

"Because we're working with Craig Roberts, this job has things you don't normally see," says Sweeney, "They're using a lot of prototypes like the keypads for the HomeWorks system." The custom color that was requested by the interior designer for the keypads is Satin Biscuit.

"The HomeWorks system for this house can be controlled with a hand held programmer. Each floor of the home has its own hand held programmer. They kind of look like a Game Boy," says Sweeney, "Instead of going to the computer to make programming changes you just pick up the hand held device where ever you are in the house and just punch the buttons."
